Where the Ionian keeps its secrets

Sivota - the natural harbour that earns its reputation quietly.

The Destination

Sivota

Sivota is one of those places that has not forgotten what it is for. A natural harbour framed by wooded hills. Sailboats anchored in calm water. Tavernas that have been feeding the same families for decades. It earns its reputation through the colour of its sea, the pace of its mornings, and the particular quality of a sunset watched from the quay.

In the southern part of Thesprotia, 12 kilometres from Igoumenitsa, it is the kind of place that repeat visitors keep to themselves. The two small islands at the entrance of the bay - Agios Nikolaos and Mavro Oros - create a closed, sheltered sea. The water is transparent. The hills are green. The village is genuinely alive.

Christies Luxury Suites sits above the village, on a hillside overlooking the bay. The harbour is five minutes by car. Bella Vraka is 150 metres from the property's private entrance.

Bella Vraka

Bella Vraka is the reason people come to Sivota for the first time - and one of the reasons they come back. The beach where two bays meet at a sandbar, and the water on both sides turns a colour that visitors consistently describe as Caribbean. The photographs tell part of the story. The water temperature, on a July morning, tells the rest.

The beach is 150 metres from the private entrance of Christies Luxury Suites. It is accessible on foot in two minutes, by a quiet path. There are sunbeds available. The water is shallow at the sandbar and deep in the coves on either side. Families swim here. Couples photograph it. Everyone returns.

Pisina
